There are moments where I find that Christians misinterpret The act of "obeying" God.
Jesus said, "If you love me, you will obey my commandments" (John 14:15).
It wasn't Him saying, "Love me by obeying me." But Rather, "When you truly love me, you will want to obey, and you actually will obey. Obedience is not how you love me, it's the evidence that you truly love me. " THIS is where the line between religion and relationship is prominent. God gave us free will. He's not calling you to follow a set of rules like a perfect, emotionless robot; but to be human, make your mistakes, and learn. Talk to Him, love Him, grow in relationship with Him.
Too many people think they love God, but they really only love their own ideas about God, more than loving God himself. When you learn to love God, it's then that you see His way being the best way. You'll be free to be who you're created to be. You'll stop settling for less than all He wants for you.
What a revelation!
